A New Jersey woman who aided in the robbery of a bank customer was sentenced to 41 months in prison last week.
Stephanie Jordan worked as a bank teller at TD Bank in Deptford, New Jersey and tipped off co-conspirator, Donnell Cheek about a customer who owned several gas stations and made large deposits to the bank. Cheek plotted, along with his brother Dashawn Cheek and friend Jamaine Levi, to rob the business man on June 11, 2010.
On the day of the robbery, the Cheek brothers and Levi staked out the gas station owner's home before following him to several of his businesses and finally, the TD Bank. Once the man was arrived at the bank, Donnell and Dashawn Cheek exited their vehicle, approached the victim and
snatched his blue Sunoco money bag and ran back to the car where Levi was waiting.
The deposit bag contained "tens of thousands of dollars" in proceeds from the victim's gas station sales. After the robbery, the suspects split the cash, said U.S. Attorney Paul J. Fishman.
Jordan, 23, pleaded guilty in Camden Federal Court to one count of aiding and abetting a Hobbs Act robbery and was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Joseph H. Rodriguez to three years of supervised release in addition to the active prison term and ordered to make $72,684 in restitution to the victim.
Fishman credited the apprehensions and guilty plea to the work of special agents of the FBI’s South Jersey office (George C. Venizelos); investigators with the Camden County and Gloucester County Prosecutors’ Offices (Warren W. Faulk and Sean F. Dalton); and officers with the Voorhees and Deptford Township Police Departments. Assistant U.S. Attorney Jason M. Richardson represented the government. Marlton attorney John Renner acted as Jordan's defense counsel.
