Retired Major League Baseball outfielder, Manny Ramirez is out of jail following his September 12 arrest on domestic violence charges.

Ramirez spent an evening in a Florida jail after his wife, Juliana made a 911 call to Broward County police saying her husband had physically assaulted her during an argument in their bedroom.

On the 911 recording Mrs. Ramirez can be heard saying that her husband struck her about the face and head and that she had a bump on her head from the assault. A police report corroborates the wife's version of events saying her face was "badly swollen, and she had a contusion on the back of her head."

When reporters questioned Ramirez about the alleged battery, the 39-year-old father of three became so enraged he threw a reporter's microphone out of a car window. Media reports indicate that Ramirez' version of the incident also seems to support his wife's statement to police, who say he reportedly admitted to grabbing Julianna by the shoulders and "shrugging" her, which caused the Mrs. to hit her head on their bed.

The Dominican Republic born MVP baseball star retired in April after testing positive for performance-enhancing drugs. He was three months into a one-year, $2 million contract with the Tampa Bay Rays. Ramirez, a native of Washington Heights in New York City, faces a year in jail if convicted of the domestic violence charge. He was released in lieu of a $2,500 bond.
